Overview of the 11plus Exam in Yorkshire
There are six Grammar schools in Yorkshire spread over 3 local areas. These areas are Calderdale, Kirklees and North Yorkshire. The application process varies from area to area and school to school.
Applicants for Skipton Girl's High School and Heckmondwicke GS need to contact the school to register for the exam. In other cases the child is automatically entered for the exam, parents who do not wish their child to sit the 11+ exam can withdraw their child and in some cases parents need to apply on line in order for their child to sit the tests.
Check carefully what it is you need to do in order for your child to take the entrance exam at your chosen school.
Test Content
The test format also varies and the test may involve Verbal Reasoning, Non-Verbal Reasoning English or mathematics. Again, as with your application, check carefully the content of the eleven plus exam that you want your child to take.
